At PALS Programs, our mission is to create inclusive camp experiences for young people with and without Down syndrome. We believe that everyone deserves the chance to form meaningful connections, gain independence, and have fun in a supportive and joyful environment. To ensure our camps remain accessible, we are proud to offer a comprehensive financial aid program that makes these transformative experiences available to anyone, regardless of financial circumstances.
Ensuring Accessibility
We recognize that tuition costs can be a barrier for some families, which is why PALS is committed to offering a range of financial aid options, including:
Reduced Fees: Lowered tuition rates for eligible families.
Payment Plans: Flexible installment options to spread out costs over time.
Full Scholarships: Complete tuition coverage for those with demonstrated need.
Our financial aid program is built on the belief that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the magic of PALS. To date, we have been able to meet all demonstrated need, thanks to the incredible generosity of our donors and the dedicated efforts of our fundraising team.
Alternative Funding Sources
In addition to financial aid offers, there are several external funding options we encourage families to explore:
Waiver Funding: For participants living in states where PALS operates programs, waiver funding often covers the full cost of tuition. Families should confirm eligibility with the Support Coordinator assigned to them by their state.
School Districts: Many districts offer funds to support summer camp attendance, particularly for students still enrolled in high school programs.
Local Religious Organizations: Churches, temples, and synagogues often have funds available for families to use toward summer programs.
Local Down Syndrome Associations (DSAs): DSAs frequently provide partial funding for programs like PALS.
Community Organizations: Groups such as EasterSeals and Elks Lodge may have grants or funding available to assist with camp costs.
A Life-Changing Experience
For families like the Stives, financial aid has made all the difference. As Connie Stives shared:
"Jacob had the opportunity to attend Camp PALS thanks to the financial aid that helped to reduce the cost. We almost canceled and are so grateful we didn't have to because he had the BEST time. He made new friends, enjoyed the independence of being with peers and mentors without us as his parents around. He tried new activities and even tried new foods he doesn't usually eat at home. He stayed up late, got up early, participated in new activities, and he learned a lot! He talks about Camp PALS all year long. This is such an incredible and life-changing experience, and we are so grateful!"
This is the kind of impact we aim to create at every PALS Program. Through financial aid, we ensure that no one has to miss out on the joy, friendships, and growth that come with attending camp.
How to Apply
Families interested in applying for financial aid can request the application through CampDoc or by reaching out to support@palsprograms.org once they have been enrolled in a program for Summer 2025. We encourage families to explore outside funding sources first, but our team is ready to bridge any gaps and support families through the process. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and families will receive a response within two weeks of applying.
We can all work together to make PALS Programs accessible to all, regardless of their financial status. If you and your family are able, consider making a donation to PALS to support tuition assistance for our participants with Down syndrome, and join us in inspiring a world of belonging.
