The Congratulations Project is an initiative of PALS where adults with Down syndrome write letters to new and expecting parents of a baby with a Down syndrome diagnosis. These letters are designed to inspire, encourage, welcome, and – most importantly – congratulate new families. Requesting a letter is 100% free, and each one begins with the same, simple message: Congratulations.

THE CONGRATULATIONS PROJECT AND PALS

During PALS, writing Congratulations Project letters is a core component of camp programming. The initiative encourages self advocacy for individuals with Down syndrome, and in turn, people without Down syndrome at PALS have the opportunity to learn more about their peers’ perspective and interests. With the letters sent, The Congratulations Project helps more families find community in PALS from the moment they receive the Down syndrome diagnosis to when their child is of age to come to camp. Through this initiative, we witness the mission of PALS to inspire a world of belonging.
